ENTERTAINING LIVES

Entertaining Lives by Jane Churchill and Emily Astor

About the book

Nancy Astor and her niece Nancy Lancaster were two of the great chatelaines of the twentieth century, entertaining a glittering array of political and society figures in London, their English country houses and at Mirador in Virginia. It was from Mirador, their childhood home, that both women absorbed the spirit of generous Southern hospitality, elegant entertaining and a wild sense of fun that migrated with them to England. Part of their secret has been found in the pages of a hand-bound volume called ‘The Mirador Cookbook’, which has been restored to life by Jane Churchill- Nancy Astor’s great-great niece and Nancy Lancaster’s great niece- and Emily Astor, Nancy Astor’s granddaughter.
